Hi from Australia
A warm ‘G’day’ from Sydney, Australia!
I’m really looking forward to meeting you all and becoming a part of the community. I’m an educator by trade, once a school master, the Aussie/British way of saying that I taught in a classroom but also cared for students in the dormitory, on the playing field and out in ‘the bush’ (the wilderness) on school hikes and expeditions. Did you ever see the film ‘Dead Poets’ Society‘? Well, a bit like that.
Given the state of the world we now live in, I’m still passionate about helping young people find that spark within, which will propel them into the 21st century with the skills and thinking needed to heal a wounded planet. Consequently, I’ve just completed a Masters of Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development and am so keen to share these learnings together with those of Doughnut Economics – sustainable and regenerative Economics for the 21st century. But please, if you’re under 30 (or any age), what can you teach me, with your fresh ideas, your optimism and the speed with which you assimilate and dispense information at multiple levels all at once?
If you’d like to chat, I’m really keen to LISTEN to your story … I’m passionate about:
- Listening to understand, not just to reply
- Moving through conflict to consensus
- Permaculture
- Taking action to mitigate the impact of the next disaster
- Self compassion for the wounded parts of ourselves that need nurturing
With much gratitude
Bill
